Once upon a time, in internet land, there was a girl who dreamed of a manga that was funny, romantic, maybe the occasional hero and heroine getting it on. Okay so it wasn’t once upon a time. I think it was about last year or so. It was internet land or whatever you call it. And also, I , the girl, found that manga. It’s Love Celeb by Mayu Shinjo. If you’ve read the manga she’s written, they get to be, how can I say it? Addictive? Yeah, that’s a good descriptive word.
If you haven’t heard of Love Celeb, I’ll give you the premise. An unsuccessful idol Kirara, who just so happens to be a virgin. Dreaming of becoming a top idol, she doesn’t care about playing a minor or even an unpleasant role! Her manager has advised her to get a job by having sex with an important person. But then a top celebrity boy, Gin who has his eyes fixed on Kirara’s virginity!?
Well, the first chapter of the first volume is inviting enough and of course, it’s what got me hooked. Kirara Nakazono is a struggling virgin idol. I’ve come to realize that an idol does about everything in the entertainment industry of Japan (ie, acting, singing, endorsements) and Kirara wants to be on top. She wants a great career in the industry but directors and producers don’t take a second look at her talent, Hanamaki, her (gorgeous)manager tells her that maybe she should sleep with a producer or director to get a better job. She was the dead girl who had her head lying on one of the toilets in her first acting scene in the manga. She gets to her next job to find directors and actresses fooling around. She’s almost sexually assaulted by a producer when a silver haired guy named Gin comes to her rescue. He turns out to be quite the anti-hero when he offers her anything to give her a 
boost in her career for his own price, Kirara’s virginity. He writes his phone number on her chest and they part. Kirara is thinking about her idol dreams at school, but afterward she gets hounded by the press. Apparently, she’s been rumored to be in some top parts and working with a great music producer. When she’s at her next idol job, she finds out Gin is behind her overnight sucess. Insert some public necking and a hickey and Gin’s vow. He’s gonna buy Kirara and make her body, his.

When I first saw the cover of Love Celeb, I picked it up thinking, she must be getting back to the famous person x normal person thing. She’s falling into a niche of her own making, I thought. But when I actually read the first volume, I was blown away. This manga has everything I look for when picking out a new one to read. There has to be an attractive looking cover or preview images. When I read the summary, it better sound interesting with a heroine who puts herself in “predictaments” and when I look it over there better be attractive art. Well, hands down, in Mayu Shinjo’s art we trust. The woman has a talent for drawing gorgeous guys. When I see her art, I get a temperature. This manga is so great, comedy (the virgin, and perverted jokes are great!),drama, romance everything you need in a Mayu Shinjo shoujo manga.

Manga ini emang dewasa banget. Pada chapter 3 ke atas adegan-adegan hotnya udah mulai terlihat. Ceritanya sih lumayan keren. Nyeritain seorang gadis bernama Kirara yang pengen jadi artis papan atas yang sukses. Sayangnya sang manager Hamaki nggak mendukung karirnya bener-bener. Dia malah bilang sama Kirara, "Mungkin ia harus tidur dengan produser atau sutradara untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan yang lebih baik."
Di saat keterpurukan Kirara seperti itu, muncul Gin sebagai pahlawannya. Gin berjanji akan mendukung karir Kirara sampai sukses. Namun, semua itu nggak gratis. Gin meminta menukar semua itu dengan harga diri dan keperawanan Kirara.
Nah, dari sini tuh konflik-konflik mulai muncul... Seru pokoknya. Cuma saranku anak di bawah umur jangan baca manga ini. Belum waktunya Hehehe ^^
